geek chic

After spending the day with SSR, I felt the need to embrace my inner "hot teacher," even if it comes across as nerdy librarian, still worth a shot -after, practice makes perfect, especially when it comes down to "hotness"
After all, I was the kid growing up that wish, prayed, longed for: glasses and braces. Yup, that's all my sweet little adolescence heart desired. Poor me. My teeth weren't croaked enough and my vision was never in question. The solution?
Fake glasses. Holy macrole, who's the genius now?

shoes -banana republic, tights -forever 21, skirt -(Penguin) thrifted, sweater shirt -forever 21,
fake glasses -forever 21, jacket -Mango, bracelets -Old navy & Jcrew
get it? I'm a librarian? Shhhhing you? Did you ever see the office when Pam has to wear her back-up glasses and Kevin asks her to ask him to be quiet? no? ok, nevermind. -it was funny, I swear.

RIP: Moment of Silence:
for these tights, their life was short, unlike their style and actual length -which was long.
obviously.
they ran. there was a hole. it was truly gruesome. goodbye sweet navy dot tights.
you will be missed.

On a brighter note: Isn't it funny how often we dress alike? I'm not sure if it's some freaky genetic thing or K Lou stalks me and I her.
Probably both.

sweater -Marshals, Jacket -Jcrew, belt -vintage, socks -TJ Maxxx, skirt -Clothes Mentor, boots -Target, shirt -Gap

hot for teacher.

As I mentioned earlier, we had friends in town. One such friend is the dazzling SSR: biology teacher and all around knock out. Can you imagine her teaching sex-ed, because she does.
OMG.

boots -Gloria Vanderbilt vintage, belt -Ann Taylor, tights -Ellen Tracy, sweater -Banana Republic, dress -Old Navy,
lust-worthy watch -Michael Kors, apple necklace -gift from me!, shades -street vendor

Isn't she amazing? We had the best time with her in town, especially since I took time off work!!

the send off

hat -Jcrew, sweater -Hallalu, ballet flats -Target, scarf -street vendor, jacket -Clothes Mentor, bracelet -Jcrew

blah. this week has been wacky -in a good way, don't get me wrong. The hubs and I had friends in town and I played hooky on Wednesday. -Do you love that or what? I am majorly inspired by the Kate Spade spring line and while it's not quite in my budg, I can still channel KS when appropriate. Stay tuned next week for KS inspired looks. This week, I felt like it was still necessary to hunker down for winter -plus NYFW fall/winter. (Not that I was scouring the internet during work all week to get in on the action.... rut row).

Oh. Remember when I finally vowed to take down our Christmas tree, well we did something a little unconventional (ie, childish and very dangerous) with said tree.
yes, guilty. We set it on fire. (Something I do not recommend or encourage). They're not kidding when they (I'm not sure who) say, those things go up like that. It's very very true.
This was the point when I became extremely worried.
As usual, Hubs to the rescue.

valentine's on ice.

See that? Behind me? The white stuff?
it's snow!!!!!!!!!!!
In Wilmington!!!!!!
In my backyard!!!!!!
It was glorious, so pretty, so awesome, so amazing, so totally great. I can't even begin to tell you how great I thought it was. I threw snowballs, made snowmen, rolled in it, played in it. I seriously enjoyed every moment of it. Snow, in Wilmington, who would have thought...

Someone in our neighborhood created this masterpiece. I was incredibly impressed. Mine was not even in the same league.

dark skinny jeans -forever 21, black turtleneck -American Apperal, key necklace -target, bow headband -forever 21,
ruffle sweater -Jcrew, black boots -Island Passage.

The hubs made a beautiful Valentines day dinner. Duck au poivre, sauteed mustard greens, and carrot medallions. Everything he made was delicious. I, on the other hand, made the worst chocolate mousse in history. It was seriously terrible, the hubs was very sweet and insisted on eating it, but it was not good.
oh well,
you win some -you lose some.

grille master

While, I feel like its important to get dressed up and look nice and improve society and what-not. Sometimes, you've just gotta grill in the parking lot.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, beers, etc.. basically, god's gift to earth. When it happens, just embrace it.
I'm finally sporting my new-again black jeans! Don't they look black and beautiful.
What a success!

black boots -Island Passage, black again jeans -Target, jean jacket -Rodarthe by Target, heart sunglasses -Old Navy,
black scarf -street vendor in NYC, helping hands apron -gift

We closed up shop and invited everyone to the parking lot, it was a grand old time.

I am very very proud to introduce, the first of many: customer's of the week. Congratulations to Calvin for being this week's most stylish customer.

I think it was the jeans that sealed the deal.

Thanks Calvin. You look amazing boo.

Junior League of Wilmington Bargin Sale

Please come out this weekend and kill two birds with one stone
1. Support the Junior League of Wilmington to raise money to support the children in our community.
2. go to a killer garage sale.
3. do you need another reason?!

look ma! no cavities!

I would like to start by announcing that I have never had a cavity in my whole entire life... and I am very proud of that fact. Someone who wasn't nearly as impressed is pictured below, I won't be naming names....
She did look A-M-A-Z-I-N-G today though. Amelia Earhart meets Olivia Palermo.

jacket -Island Passage, jeans -Forever 21, hair piece -JCrew, turtleneck -Target,
necklace -gift from Me!, boots -Island Passage, clutch -Forever21

The funny thing about taking pictures of yourself everyday (besides the sheer vanity of it), is you don't realize how intense clothes are, until you see them as photos. I had no idea this skirt was SO UNBELIEVABLY bright. Holy Macrole, my bottom half has been highlighted.

My sweet friend SSR turned me onto nude fishnets and they are seriously a favorite. They take the, dare I say -skanky? out of fishnets, so that they're appropriate to wear to work.

crocodile sling backs -Nine West (years ago), nude fishnets -Marshals, highlighter skirt -JCrew, white boat neck tee -target, zipper cardigan -forever 21, hair bow -forever 21

gone with the wind

We got out of the office (yay) and had lunch downtown at Chop's deli -which for the record is very good, even the Jed liked it.
The wind was insane, I was honestly worried about a tree falling on my house. The Hubs reassured me that if an actual hurricane hadn't taken it out yet, a winter storm won't. Whew
I really like these pants. They're really nothing special, except for the fact that I bought them on my (only) European vacation, which makes them European and therefore much cooler than anything I can buy in the lousy States. (Unless I'm getting something from LL Bean, they know quality).
Anyways, I wanted to embrace my sleek European-isms with a uber chic neck scarf (see what I did there? I was even talking like a European -har har)
-Actually, more like snort snort, because that's what I do when I laugh, in fact once (recently) I was at a show (laughing so hard) the actor actually broke character to laugh at me laughing at him. Yes, seriously.

Tangent much? Yikes!

striped pants -Zara (IN BARCELONA!!!)

spectator shoes -target, denim shirt -forever 21 men's department, neck scarf -vintage values, black belt -express.

Speaking of LL Bean, K Lou looks like a lady that knows which Ivy League school she cheers for, there ain't no cowbell here folks.

jeans -Hudson from Hallelu, penny loafers -vintage, cable knit sweater -Marshals,

gray jacket -Banana Republic, red scarf -gift, red flower ring -Island Passage
