faking it with the hubs

We both faked it actually. Specifically, we faked knowing/caring about the fake bride and groom at the fake wedding we attended last night. I'm not actually sure how we got involved, but somehow we spent Monday night eating cake, applauding at people we've never met, and even dancing -but just a little bit of dancing.
The theme was 1950's jazz club. Think, a Mad Men night on the town. I had a blast with the theme -although I was pretty disappointed that I wasn't assigned a hat or gloves at the styling station.
Yeah, there was a styling station with some amazing vintage jewelry, headpieces, and gloves.
hubs didn't tell me my necklace had gone a muck, but he did do a pretty terrific job taking pics. (thanks sweet thang). We had a terrific time. The bride looked beautiful, the food was great (they served a mama dips style squash casserole!), and the folks we sat with were hilarious.
please excuse my very chipped polish -I am in need of a pedi, I know.

(not exactly) a plain white tee

The night before my birthday the Hubs took me out to a new Latin restaurant. Wilmington's restaurant week is going on until the 5th and I highly recommend all you Wilmingtonians get out and get some grub. We went to Mixto and it was very good. They could definitely improve on a few things (the Hubs' pork was overcooked), but all of their sauces were very well developed -which I think is a sign of a very good restaurant.
Although, I must be getting old -I thought the music was way too loud.
Since it was my birthday eve, I wanted to look a little more special -so I busted out my bling. what, what?!
It's fun to take something as ordinary as a white v-neck and pair it with your fanciest fare. The Hubs got me these earrings for Christmas and I absolutely adore them. I feel not only spiffy, but grown up and sophisticated when I wear them. The bracelet was also a Christmas gift, it is more wearable than the earrings, but it can still stand up to their snazziness. (I'm such a wierdo, I winked at the screen while I typed that last sentence)

Earrings & Bracelet -gift (but from JCrew), white tee -target, army green skirt -Forever 21,
nude heels -Banana Republic, nude belt -JCrew, LV clutch -china town

I just noticed I'm wearing matching shoes and belt.
Is that a faux pas these days?
uh-oh

southern belle a-bloomin'

1st Athens Date Night!!!
You would have thought it was our first friggin' date. It took me about two hours to get ready -sorry Hubs! On the bright side I was pretty happy with the results -conceited much?

We went to a beautiful farm-to-table restaurant in downtown Athens called Farm 255. We were both super excited about it. The service was great; the atmosphere was great; and the drinks were heavenly. -Always a plus on date night.

The outfit was quite forgiving considering I stuffed myself. I've been waiting to bust out this dress all winter. It is from Forever 21, but is surprisingly high quality. I love the pattern and the fabric is a heavier canvas-like material. It was substantial enough to keep me warm while we ate outside even when the sun went down.

dress- forever 21, creamy cardigan -Island Passage, cat eye sunglasses -forever 21, hair bow -forever 21, heels -Island Passage,
belt -vintage (thanks mom!), necklace -thrifted.

Overall, if this date night was any indicator, Athens is going to be perfect.

valentine's on ice.

See that? Behind me? The white stuff?
it's snow!!!!!!!!!!!
In Wilmington!!!!!!
In my backyard!!!!!!
It was glorious, so pretty, so awesome, so amazing, so totally great. I can't even begin to tell you how great I thought it was. I threw snowballs, made snowmen, rolled in it, played in it. I seriously enjoyed every moment of it. Snow, in Wilmington, who would have thought...

Someone in our neighborhood created this masterpiece. I was incredibly impressed. Mine was not even in the same league.

dark skinny jeans -forever 21, black turtleneck -American Apperal, key necklace -target, bow headband -forever 21,
ruffle sweater -Jcrew, black boots -Island Passage.

The hubs made a beautiful Valentines day dinner. Duck au poivre, sauteed mustard greens, and carrot medallions. Everything he made was delicious. I, on the other hand, made the worst chocolate mousse in history. It was seriously terrible, the hubs was very sweet and insisted on eating it, but it was not good.
oh well,
you win some -you lose some.

oui oui

I felt very chic and Parisian in this outfit. I know it's the stripes/trench combo, but I'm a huge fan. Simple, yet chic is my favorite. -what a cliche' right?
We had a really nice, fancy pants dinner at Jerry's for this particular date night, because...
IT WAS THE HUB'S BIRTHDAY!!!
-technically,
it was last weekend, but I could celebrate his birth for months
-he's that great!
black boots -banana republic,
tights (that I wish I had gotten a better photo of because they're so very very chic) -victoria's secret,
wrap skirt -target, striped turtleneck -Island Passage, necklace -forever 21, trench -old navy, clutch -thrifted

a serious date

The hubs and I had a date night last night. We headed to UNCW's Lumina Theatre and saw the new Cohen Brother's movie, A Serious Man.
The movie was set in the 1960's and I wanted to dress the part -but still stay warm, I think it was a success.

My colorblock dress is from Hallelu; textured tights and coat from Forever21; belt and pin are vintage from Momma K.

My very 1960's bag is from my favorite, Bargin Box.
After the movie we headed downtown to the Soapbox to catch a Caberet show -and it was truly awesome
Folks give Wilmers a bad wrap, but there are some seriously cool things coming down the pipeline and it's up to Wilmingtonians to support these things, come on people!!!
