thrilled

{dress & skinny belt: forever 21; necklace: k lou's; trench & flats: target; tights: wal mart; ring and tote: banana}

Apologies all around for my absence. You see, this whole blogger thing relays quite a bit on technology: when your computer, camera, dryer, car, and bracelet breaks -it makes blogging more difficult. (Maybe the bracelet part is a little dramatic, but you get the idea). So, you've heard my excuses. Hopefully, you're feeling forgiving.
I had a wonderful visit from some wonderful friends while the Hubs left me for a jaunt in New York City. I had the best time exploring Athens with them. Also, how much does UGA look like the Carolina quad? Right? Thrilled? You with me?
Also, I'm really hoping everyone (Brad!) appreciates this GIF. I'd like to think I'm a computer genius, but really I have no idea what I'm doing. Needlesstosay this GIF took some serious figuring out. I hope you like it

military rule

{jatk boots -modcloth.com; leggings, tunic -target; jacket, belt -forever 21; scarf -street vendor}

I imagine most of you have some access to the weather, so I am assuming that you already know that the Peach state has indeed received snow. (insert cheers here). Several very exciting things happend:

1. this darn computer got sick. sickty sick sick.
2. ice ice baby. i love snow, ice is really scary.
3. chili, Thomas Keller's brownies, several trips to Vision Video
that is all. in four days. yes, seriously. we've watched a lot of movies.
luckily now the computer has been fixed; both the Hubs and I have finally left the house; and we're having a lovely double dinner date tonight.
the other awesome thing is that I bought newstand magazines (vogue!) and I totally stole the outfit from page 132. My apologies to Anna Wintour. Buying magazines is such a treat, but I obviously take their advice a little too seriously.

Please no one report me to the devil!
cheers,
mc

jewel thief

{jeans -jcrew; sweater -target; flats -banana republic; necklace -thrifted; jacket -mango; sunnies -rayban}
stop what you're doing right now and to to Target. I'm being really serious people. Check out this sweater -Target, nine bones. See how this is serious(ly awesome)?

Even if you don't immediately jump into your nearest form of transportation I do hope you'll gloat along with me, because honestly I feel fancy and cool in this sweater.
1. jewel tones look awesome on everybody. infants, old people, ugly folks.
2. whatever crazy blend of poly/rayon/bad-for-the-environment material is so friggin' soft -I'm calling it poor girl cashmere. (and no one can stop me).
3. I also kinda feel like one of those nineteen fifties sweater girls. You know, the ones with the pointy bras and good ponytails.
that's all I've got for now.
cheers,
mc

camp czech

{tights & flats -target; cross bod bag -mulberry for target; sweater dress & cardi -Hallelu; Mt. Baker pin -earned}

tights plus sweater plus sweater equals heaven, people!
I can't even put into words my overwhelming comfort. Awesomeness is taking over my life today: the weather is the perfect blend of cool and sunny; I'm off from both jobs; and the Hubs is making fried chicken!!!

What the heck could be better?

A note about the title: When visiting my Grandparents it's not just a trip to Grandmother's house, you're visiting Camp Czech. Their cabin is authentically rustic -they've got things that would make a hipster's head spin. Back to my point, when you visit Camp Czech Grandpa almost automatically takes you up Mount Baker and when you accomplish this task you earn your Camp Czech Memories: Mt. Baker pin. It's pretty awesome. What would not be awesome is my Grandmother's face if she saw the length of this dress. She's been known to disapprove. Luckily, it's unlikely she's ever been near a computer, much less the internet..
{grandpa and I at the top of Baker Mountain}
Did anyone follow all that? Geez.

cheers,

mc

still my favorite

{we had pie, photo cred}
aren't weddings just the best? The Hubs and I tied the knot almost two years ago and I still find myself visiting wedding sites, constantly. I love when weddings really seem to reflect some one's personality or background. I also love dresses, flowers, diamonds, cake, shoes, etc....

this cat is back

{jeans, skinny belt -forever 21; tote bag -banana republic; flats -old navy; leopard shirt, watch -target; middle finger ring -gifted from grandma; sunnies -wayfarer}

hey, o.
I've been a bad, bad blogger. I'm sorry, to all eight of you, but on the bright side -I'm back. As I hope all of you already know, it is the year two thousand eleven and this girl is pumped. Last year I had two pretty excellent resolutions and I somehow accomplished both. (Yay, me!) Since it seems, I'm on a roll, lets try again this year. For the record books in 2011 I would like to:
1. be a better blogger. with more frequent (or at least more interesting) posts
2. freaking relax. take a chill pill. yoga. meditation. whatevs.
3. learn to play the accordion. Joan may or may not be a major influence in this decision.
4. kick booty at my job -I really like it and kicking booty. Seems obvious, really.
5. positivity. the secret. good karma. just goodness, ok?

Back to the outfit, do you like it? I do, a lot. I felt like a really hip sixties housewife when I left the house. Since my new job requires a sadly unfashionable uniform, I've been using my days off to rock some serious style. I've updated my inspiration board for 2011 and I've got some good stuff lined up.
until next time.
cheers,
mc

works cited

{skinny jeans, skinny belt, fake glasses -forever 21; tweed blazer -jcrew; otk boots -modcloth; flannel shirt -his, ralph lauren; honors pin -vintage}

I stole this outfit. Not literally, from its respective retailers, but from a more legitimate blogger. See, it's not technically stealing if I cite my source, which I now have. This is all so clever because I'm chit chatting about MLA format and what-nots and I look all collegiate and important in my (fake!) glasses. Also, I live in College Town America, USA and the old Hubs teaches freshman English.
full disclosure: he is currently cringing at my inaccurate use of commas. I'm sorry baby!
fuller disclosure: I have access to the smartiest pants man on earth and still my blog is one grammatical mistake after another. What a jerk I am. A very lazy jerk. I'm sorry baby!
Lets keep things positive, shall we? Can you see the honor pin on my jacket? That was my great-grandmother's, isn't that awesome? It has her initials engraved on the back and the year 1926. Hello! What a steller gene pool to be swimming in.
All for now
