obligatory satc post -cosmos included

yellow dress -Calvin Klien via TJ Maxx, wedges -nine west, navy bag -vintage values, sunnies -Chinatown, pearls -Klou's, nude belt -J Crew

There is a terrific article on npr that pretty much sums up how I felt about the actual movie -I mean, what did I really expect? It delivered as far as the outfits went and the content -well again what did I expect. The fact is it was a fun night with my girlfriends. We were lucky enough to go to a Sex and the City party -which was a blast. We dressed like our respective characters and even though none of us won the grand prizes, it was serious fun. There is a great video from our fabulous host, Style Girl. We all got brief cameos. wink, wink.
Hopefully, you can tell that I was channeling my inner Charlotte (who, I actually wanted to punch in the face during the movie). I do love her style, though I found myself appriciating Miranda more and more -maybe I secretly want to move to Brooklyn and have a ging baby?

far-away faux pas

I pride myself on being someone who sends funny, thoughtful emails. In fact, I pride myself on being a funny person in general. Some of my friends -who shall remain nameless, are not as funny as I am.
Today is the exception. My bestie in nyc sent me this email:

Subject: I'm walking behind this poor girl and her dress is SO see through
hahaha, well played Crow, well played

could someone please buy this for me? Because, I'm pretty sure I need it. Saw it on Keiko Lynn and immediately decided I needed it. I'm on the look-out for the perfect hair accessory for LADY GAGA IN MADISON SQUARE GARDEN!

-oh, I'm sorry. Did I not tell you? Yeah, July 9th. Let the countdown begin....
Basically, it is going to be awesome.
1. I get to see some of my best girls
2. I get to wear something over-the-friggin-top.

awesome.

style salute

to my sweet momma, a little late for mother's day, but important nonetheless. K Lou is the OSS -original style star. I'm not sure how I will function in Athens without her.
no, we did not plan this: red dress on me -Target, tan belt -forever 21, lizard sandals -target, straw hat -J Crew, aviators -Ray Ban. Red Dress on K Lou -Marshalls, gold belt -J Crew, wayfarer style sunglasses -Target, gold flip flops -nine west

birthday suit #2

Linds and I partied pretty hard....

candy striped dress -Topshop, hair bow -forever 21, skinny gold belt -old navy, pj's -target, Oreo ice box cheesecake -Cooks Illustrated

I had such a great birthday. I'm a HUGE fan of birthdays in general -mine specifically, and it DID NOT disappoint. We drank champagne, ate cake, and generally had a great time. The Hubs made me the best (most decadent) cake ever. It was an Oreo ice-box cheesecake and it was insanely good. I highly recommend Cooks Illustrated, all of their recipes are tested over and over to insure boneheads (like me!) can't screw up. Its pretty much foolproof.
Also, big thank yous to all my wonderful friends and family for making my birthday so special. I am one very lucky lady.

in the navy now

brown wedges -borrowed from KLou, gold shimmer skirt -ny & co., navy purse -vintage, stripped tee -target, nautical pin -vintage, sunnies -forever 21, nails -Essie Bright Tights,

We've been so crazy busy lately -getting ready for the move, trying to sell our sweet house :(, you know the story. The Hubs and I have been working very hard getting the old crib together for Realtors and so-on. We're exhausted -but, the house looks so good. Isn't being forced to clean like crazy sometimes a really good thing? I think so.

On a brighter note, I'm excited to debut my new birthday skirt! Isn't it cute? K Lou has AMAZING taste (thanks Mom!). I am loving the warm weather and any available excuse to embrace my love for all things nautical. I picked up my "nauti" pin on our first trip to Athens at this great little vintage shop -the Hubs calls it my coolest pin. Which must mean fabulous.
On an even brighter note -check out my nail polish. OMG right? It is super duper bright, but I am loving it. Feels so summery and fun, plus the Hubs' cousin (who is a stylist) says orange is the cool color this summer -actually she says colour, which is ever cooler.
All for now, we're taking the boat out this weekend for its 2010 inaugural run, I've got a good outfit planned. Hopefully my bikini pictures won't involve too much photo-shopping! Yikes!

birthday suit #1

Tuesday was my Birthday, hello -I'm 25 now! I took the day off and spent it in lovely downtown Wilmington with my sweet and wonderful Hubs. The best part was that we stayed in a B&B, so it felt like we were on vay-cay.

I'm guilty of being one of those people who drag their birthday out all week (hence, this being outfit #1) I'll have more to follow. Besides, turning 25 is a big deal. Now I can say things like "well, twenty years ago blah blah blah;" because I remember being five...

Anyways, big love to the Hubs who has been putting up with my prolonged birthday. As I type he is making me an oreo cheesecake. woop woop!

K Lou bought me this hat recently and I'm pretty sure I'm obsessed with it. First off: it actually fits my enormous head. Secondly, I think I look really really cool. Which, hello! What a great feeling that is..
Don't you just love dt Wilmers? It is too cute, plus it like totally goes with my outfit n'stuff.
red dress -plato's closet, tan flats -target, leather carryall -banana republic, nautical scarf -bargain box, jean jacket -rodarthe for Target, straw hat -jcrew, nautical pin -thrift store in athens

(not exactly) a plain white tee

The night before my birthday the Hubs took me out to a new Latin restaurant. Wilmington's restaurant week is going on until the 5th and I highly recommend all you Wilmingtonians get out and get some grub. We went to Mixto and it was very good. They could definitely improve on a few things (the Hubs' pork was overcooked), but all of their sauces were very well developed -which I think is a sign of a very good restaurant.
Although, I must be getting old -I thought the music was way too loud.
Since it was my birthday eve, I wanted to look a little more special -so I busted out my bling. what, what?!
It's fun to take something as ordinary as a white v-neck and pair it with your fanciest fare. The Hubs got me these earrings for Christmas and I absolutely adore them. I feel not only spiffy, but grown up and sophisticated when I wear them. The bracelet was also a Christmas gift, it is more wearable than the earrings, but it can still stand up to their snazziness. (I'm such a wierdo, I winked at the screen while I typed that last sentence)

Earrings & Bracelet -gift (but from JCrew), white tee -target, army green skirt -Forever 21,
nude heels -Banana Republic, nude belt -JCrew, LV clutch -china town

I just noticed I'm wearing matching shoes and belt.
Is that a faux pas these days?
uh-oh

Derby Downer

So, my readers spoke
-and I listened, and look what happend. Thanks a lot guys. (I kid, I kid)
Geez, what a bummer. C'est la vie, I suppose. Other than seeing double (yeah -there was another girl, not pictured, in the same dress) the Mint Julep Jubilee was a huge sucess. We all had a terrific time. We ate (and drank!) a lot! Please don't ask me who won the race though...

Didn't the Hubs look terrific? I think I liked his outfit better than mine... there were obviously no repeats of his.

on the Hubs: Saddle Shoes (from our wedding!) -JCrew, Navy trousers -JCrew,
Patterned Button Down -Target, Jacket -Zara, Straw Hat -JCrew, Wayfarers -Ray Ban
on me: Shoes -Island Passage, Derby Dress -Anthropologie, belt -Forever 21,
gloves -Modcloth.com, Hat -JCrew, Flower embelishment -from K Lou, Sunglasses -Forever 21

Big thanks to the Junior League of Wilmington for putting on such a great event. Not only did everyone have a wonderful time (and looked great), the league was able to raise some big bucks to support local projects and organizations. Thanks to all the ladies who worked so hard!
