military rule

{jatk boots -modcloth.com; leggings, tunic -target; jacket, belt -forever 21; scarf -street vendor}

I imagine most of you have some access to the weather, so I am assuming that you already know that the Peach state has indeed received snow. (insert cheers here). Several very exciting things happend:

1. this darn computer got sick. sickty sick sick.
2. ice ice baby. i love snow, ice is really scary.
3. chili, Thomas Keller's brownies, several trips to Vision Video
that is all. in four days. yes, seriously. we've watched a lot of movies.
luckily now the computer has been fixed; both the Hubs and I have finally left the house; and we're having a lovely double dinner date tonight.
the other awesome thing is that I bought newstand magazines (vogue!) and I totally stole the outfit from page 132. My apologies to Anna Wintour. Buying magazines is such a treat, but I obviously take their advice a little too seriously.

Please no one report me to the devil!
cheers,
mc

jewel thief

{jeans -jcrew; sweater -target; flats -banana republic; necklace -thrifted; jacket -mango; sunnies -rayban}
stop what you're doing right now and to to Target. I'm being really serious people. Check out this sweater -Target, nine bones. See how this is serious(ly awesome)?

Even if you don't immediately jump into your nearest form of transportation I do hope you'll gloat along with me, because honestly I feel fancy and cool in this sweater.
1. jewel tones look awesome on everybody. infants, old people, ugly folks.
2. whatever crazy blend of poly/rayon/bad-for-the-environment material is so friggin' soft -I'm calling it poor girl cashmere. (and no one can stop me).
3. I also kinda feel like one of those nineteen fifties sweater girls. You know, the ones with the pointy bras and good ponytails.
that's all I've got for now.
cheers,
mc

camp czech

{tights & flats -target; cross bod bag -mulberry for target; sweater dress & cardi -Hallelu; Mt. Baker pin -earned}

tights plus sweater plus sweater equals heaven, people!
I can't even put into words my overwhelming comfort. Awesomeness is taking over my life today: the weather is the perfect blend of cool and sunny; I'm off from both jobs; and the Hubs is making fried chicken!!!

What the heck could be better?

A note about the title: When visiting my Grandparents it's not just a trip to Grandmother's house, you're visiting Camp Czech. Their cabin is authentically rustic -they've got things that would make a hipster's head spin. Back to my point, when you visit Camp Czech Grandpa almost automatically takes you up Mount Baker and when you accomplish this task you earn your Camp Czech Memories: Mt. Baker pin. It's pretty awesome. What would not be awesome is my Grandmother's face if she saw the length of this dress. She's been known to disapprove. Luckily, it's unlikely she's ever been near a computer, much less the internet..
{grandpa and I at the top of Baker Mountain}
Did anyone follow all that? Geez.

cheers,

mc

the send off

hat -Jcrew, sweater -Hallalu, ballet flats -Target, scarf -street vendor, jacket -Clothes Mentor, bracelet -Jcrew

blah. this week has been wacky -in a good way, don't get me wrong. The hubs and I had friends in town and I played hooky on Wednesday. -Do you love that or what? I am majorly inspired by the Kate Spade spring line and while it's not quite in my budg, I can still channel KS when appropriate. Stay tuned next week for KS inspired looks. This week, I felt like it was still necessary to hunker down for winter -plus NYFW fall/winter. (Not that I was scouring the internet during work all week to get in on the action.... rut row).

Oh. Remember when I finally vowed to take down our Christmas tree, well we did something a little unconventional (ie, childish and very dangerous) with said tree.
yes, guilty. We set it on fire. (Something I do not recommend or encourage). They're not kidding when they (I'm not sure who) say, those things go up like that. It's very very true.
This was the point when I became extremely worried.
As usual, Hubs to the rescue.

valentine's on ice.

See that? Behind me? The white stuff?
it's snow!!!!!!!!!!!
In Wilmington!!!!!!
In my backyard!!!!!!
It was glorious, so pretty, so awesome, so amazing, so totally great. I can't even begin to tell you how great I thought it was. I threw snowballs, made snowmen, rolled in it, played in it. I seriously enjoyed every moment of it. Snow, in Wilmington, who would have thought...

Someone in our neighborhood created this masterpiece. I was incredibly impressed. Mine was not even in the same league.

dark skinny jeans -forever 21, black turtleneck -American Apperal, key necklace -target, bow headband -forever 21,
ruffle sweater -Jcrew, black boots -Island Passage.

The hubs made a beautiful Valentines day dinner. Duck au poivre, sauteed mustard greens, and carrot medallions. Everything he made was delicious. I, on the other hand, made the worst chocolate mousse in history. It was seriously terrible, the hubs was very sweet and insisted on eating it, but it was not good.
oh well,
you win some -you lose some.

grille master

While, I feel like its important to get dressed up and look nice and improve society and what-not. Sometimes, you've just gotta grill in the parking lot.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, beers, etc.. basically, god's gift to earth. When it happens, just embrace it.
I'm finally sporting my new-again black jeans! Don't they look black and beautiful.
What a success!

black boots -Island Passage, black again jeans -Target, jean jacket -Rodarthe by Target, heart sunglasses -Old Navy,
black scarf -street vendor in NYC, helping hands apron -gift

We closed up shop and invited everyone to the parking lot, it was a grand old time.

I am very very proud to introduce, the first of many: customer's of the week. Congratulations to Calvin for being this week's most stylish customer.

I think it was the jeans that sealed the deal.

Thanks Calvin. You look amazing boo.

gone with the wind

We got out of the office (yay) and had lunch downtown at Chop's deli -which for the record is very good, even the Jed liked it.
The wind was insane, I was honestly worried about a tree falling on my house. The Hubs reassured me that if an actual hurricane hadn't taken it out yet, a winter storm won't. Whew
I really like these pants. They're really nothing special, except for the fact that I bought them on my (only) European vacation, which makes them European and therefore much cooler than anything I can buy in the lousy States. (Unless I'm getting something from LL Bean, they know quality).
Anyways, I wanted to embrace my sleek European-isms with a uber chic neck scarf (see what I did there? I was even talking like a European -har har)
-Actually, more like snort snort, because that's what I do when I laugh, in fact once (recently) I was at a show (laughing so hard) the actor actually broke character to laugh at me laughing at him. Yes, seriously.

Tangent much? Yikes!

striped pants -Zara (IN BARCELONA!!!)

spectator shoes -target, denim shirt -forever 21 men's department, neck scarf -vintage values, black belt -express.

Speaking of LL Bean, K Lou looks like a lady that knows which Ivy League school she cheers for, there ain't no cowbell here folks.

jeans -Hudson from Hallelu, penny loafers -vintage, cable knit sweater -Marshals,

gray jacket -Banana Republic, red scarf -gift, red flower ring -Island Passage

six more weeks?!

is it a little late to address the groundhog seeing the shadow? or not seeing the shadow? anyways, I'm pretty bummed about it. It hasn't really been cold, just blustery. (which is a word, by the way...)
So I tried (and ultimately failed) to bring Spring in my outfit, but when its raining and what-not, it just doesn't seem to work out.
Hey, you win some you lose some..

brown wedges -target, ivory tights -forever 21, khaki skirt -target, aqua sweater -JCrew, jacket -Mango,
scarf -gift from Sam, plastic ring -forever 21

K Lou likes to call me before she comes into the office and feel out her outfit. When she mentioned leather pants, I pretty much flipped out with excitement and she did not fail. For the record, Home Girl owns multiple pairs of leather pants, so stay tuned -she's gonna bring it.

leather pants -Wilson leather, sweater -vintage, brown belt -forever 21, leather mary janes -Island Passage

(ps: she's wearing two more sweaters under the one below, K Lou is the most cold natured person alive)
