suburban wasteland

Ugh, turns out I'm getting old.
Let me elaborate: the hubs and I went to a 'slip and slide' birthday party for our sweet friend Liza. They smoked a pig; there was lots of beer; good music; and of course: the slip and slide. When I say 'slip and slide' I don't mean the one your mom bought from Target ten years ago. This was far from the glamorized garbage bag you might be envisioning. This thing was and inflatable bouncy castle with a slide and sprinklers -fifty feet long and fifteen feet high. It was one of the funnest things I've ever done.
So you're asking, "what's the problem Moll?"
Oh, I'll tell you the problem. The beautiful people. Every single person at this party was tan and beautiful and physically fit with perfect hair and perfect teeth. I'm not kidding or exaggerating -which I've been known to do. All of the men were super buff and all the ladies were super hot.
So, we're at this party and everyone is beautiful and in their skimpy bikinis lubing each other up, jumping up and down, and sliding down a slip and slide.
It felt like a joke. Honestly, I thought I was on the set for a Girls Gone Wild video. It was like attack of the beautiful people. To say I felt awkward is the understatement of the century. I've never felt so pale and gawky and dorky and pudgy. In retrospect, it was hilarious -but it did make me feel old and nerdy.
Needless to say, I waited until it got dark to take my turn on the slide. It was still so much fun!

Sunday, we emerged from our slip and slide coma and headed to the suburban wasteland known as Costco. Heaven, to some people. Jed, I'm talking to you.

do you love my flowers? Costco has the best flowers!
The guy checking receipts invented awkward. I'm not really a fan of rambunctious retail workers. Have you ever been inside Coldstone Creamery? The love to aggressively say hello and goodbye and sometimes they sing. It makes me really uncomfortable. Just like the Costco guy.

alice + olivia in wilmers!!!!

Shoot ya'll. Wilmington is getting seriously cool -right as we pack up to leave. Wah, wah. Oh well, I am enjoying it while I can. The Alice + Olivia fashion flash brought some serious high fashion to little old Wilmington, how cool is that? They're so clever with their vintage airstream -tugging at the heartstrings of every last hipster in the place...
The show it self was terrific -too short- but terrific. I could have watched it all night. The best part was Monkee's picked three girls to makeover and walk in the show. Sweet thing Kirsty Piper was one of those lucky ladies and she looked a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

Jonathan, Rebecca and I posing after the show.

sparkle tank, black skirt, lime slingbacks, lime headband -jcrew, bow ring -forever 21, silver clutch -thrifted, oversized watch -target, photo credits -sweet hubs

work it Kirsty!
it goes without saying that I am officially lusting after every single piece. Specifically, the tessa tie shoulder dress. O M G. One of a+o's PR girls was wearing it and looked so friggin' cute. She also wore floral garland in her hair, which warrants serious props anyway. Well played girlfriend, well played.
so, that's my recap. I had a blast, the hubs came along (which never happens) and we were still in bed by 10. My kinda night.
cheers,
mc

I just can't get enough...

.... navy blue cocktail dresses.

I love them! I think they're prefect in every way -in all occasions.

Folks praise the lbd, not me I'm lnd for life. I own more navy dresses than any other color and I forced my bridesmaids to don Isaac Mizrahi (for Target!) frocks for my big day.

the point is, I love them and I am constantly drawn to them.
(my sweetest, most wonderful bridesmaids)

um hello, how friggin' cute is this. I'm saying it here first, off the shoulder is the new one shoulder. (yeah, I went there.)

the new "it" dress... you heard it hear first

the stepford wife

*check out our porch fan -we're the only people in the hood that have one, the hubs is super proud of it..
camel heels -island passage, army shirt dress -target, printed apron -anthropologie, jeweled bracelet -forever 21, aquamarine ring -gift from grandma, nails -essie "Hot Socks", flowers that aren't dead -diy!!

The hubs and I have been married now for over a year and I think it's been awesome. I am a huge fan of this whole marriage thing -but I don't really feel very "wifey." Insert today's outfit and sha-bam! I am lookin' the part. I also haven't killed our mums or our herb garden -so it looks like I'm not too terrible at this domestic thing after all. Just toss this girl and apron and a watering can* and we're in business.
*the watering can was carried by the flower girl at our wedding instead of a basket. I still use it all the time.

so fresh and so clean

hey hey, K Lou is in the house. woop woop. One of the precious few lunches we get to have -outside the office! These lunches are savored -specifically because they're not in front of a computer screen, while answering phones, and paying bill -ick. I thought K Lou's outfit looked so Chanel-y. Crisp black and whites in the heat of the summer -sharp, people -very sharp.

on K Lou: silver flats -shop in San Diego, skirt -borrowed from me, Target, lace shirt - forever 21, croc purse -banana republic, bow ring -forever 21, sunnies -target, pearl bulbs -belks

on me: army green skirt -forever 21, red stripped shirt -forever 21, leather bag -banana republic, over sized watch -target, aviators -Ray Ban, camel flats -target, camel belt -forever 21, straw hat -JCrew.

ok, I'm ready to fess up. I copied this outfit -almost verbatim from none other than Kim Kardashian. Yup that's right, from the most recent People Style. I feel a little guilty being a copy cat and a little shameful copying someone who's claim to fame is a sex tape. In my defense, I did tone down the 4" heels she wore -as well as the four pounds of make-up that girl seems to always be wearing. Zoikes. Kim, if you're reading (first off, why are you reading my blog??) and I'm sorry.

cheers,
mc

There is a terrific article on npr that pretty much sums up how I felt about the actual movie -I mean, what did I really expect? It delivered as far as the outfits went and the content -well again what did I expect. The fact is it was a fun night with my girlfriends. We were lucky enough to go to a Sex and the City party -which was a blast. We dressed like our respective characters and even though none of us won the grand prizes, it was serious fun. There is a great video from our fabulous host, Style Girl. We all got brief cameos. wink, wink.
Hopefully, you can tell that I was channeling my inner Charlotte (who, I actually wanted to punch in the face during the movie). I do love her style, though I found myself appriciating Miranda more and more -maybe I secretly want to move to Brooklyn and have a ging baby?

far-away faux pas

I pride myself on being someone who sends funny, thoughtful emails. In fact, I pride myself on being a funny person in general. Some of my friends -who shall remain nameless, are not as funny as I am.
Today is the exception. My bestie in nyc sent me this email:

Subject: I'm walking behind this poor girl and her dress is SO see through
hahaha, well played Crow, well played
