weekending

{the Hubs and the home of the chestnut chicken sandwich -perhaps the best sandwich of all time}

{downtown wilmers, all decked out for the holidays}

{jeans -jcrew matchstick; striped tee -forever 21; red beret -american apparel; silver skinny belt -plato's closet via old navy; black cardigan -kohl's; silver ballet flats -target; purse -michael kors via tj maxx}

the Hubs and I really enjoyed our short visit back to Wilmers. It was really nice to spend some QT with our family, friends, and frankly each other! Our weekends have been chalk full of work and paper grading/writing it was really a pleasure to have weekend together. We headed downtown one dreary afternoon for a chestnut chicken sandwich and a shot of nostalgia. They say you can't go home again (which was the prompt for my UNC application essay), but I disagree T-Dub. We came, we went, we had the best old time. Wilmywood will always be our home away from home.

jane-o-lantern

{shorts -old navy: gingham top -KLou's; orange cardigan -banana republic; belt -forever 21; flats -target; sunnies -forever 21; bag -banana}

I think the only acceptable month to wear a combination of orange/black is October. Agree or not, I plan on doing it this as much as possible until the 31st. I have some funny stories to tell soon, but right now I'm off to my very glamorous job.
I should have put glamorous in quotations...

my favorite things

{bow skirt -forever 21; white tee & trench -target; bracelets & earrings -JCrew; cityscape heels -Camper; sunnies & scarf -nyc street vendor; clutch -vintage}

Yesterday I busted out all my favorite items. Why you ask? Where do I start....
I spoke to K Lou early yesterday morning, so when the phone rang downstairs, I knew it couldn't be her again -and who else would be calling?
I thought, "holy mackeral... this is it." I grabbed my phone, and sure enough, it was an unrecognizable number.
I answered with a very enthusiastic "hello!!"
the voice on the line said, "is this Molly, how are you?"
It depends, I thought.
"Well, this is Chris. We'd like to offer you a position with our company...."
I actually didn't hear the rest. I thanked Chris about a thousand times, called K Lou and the Hubs, and got dressed in all my favorites.
The Hubs took me to a delicious lunch at the national, then rallied all our new friends for a happy hour celebration. It was a pretty awesome day. I'm pretty darn stoked. This whole Athens thing is really getting good.
cheerfully,

all the pretty monsters

omg, omg, omg. Lady Gaga. omg, omg, omg. She rocks my world. MSG + my bff's + the most insane outfits ever = awesomeness to the max. This was life changing stuff. A Lady Gaga show is pretty much like Halloween -girls can dress like skanks and it's a-okay. I say girls, but everyone was dressed like skanks (there were definitely child-skanks hoe-ing around). The show was amazing. We completely missed the opening act (wah-wah), but the people watching was everything I hoped for and then some... Love love loved it.

As you can imagine people were stopping SSR in the streets to take pictures of her. She absolutely won the award for the best look. Plus, as usual home girl worked it.
I'm still blown away -a week later.
Cheers,
mc

alice + olivia in wilmers!!!!

Shoot ya'll. Wilmington is getting seriously cool -right as we pack up to leave. Wah, wah. Oh well, I am enjoying it while I can. The Alice + Olivia fashion flash brought some serious high fashion to little old Wilmington, how cool is that? They're so clever with their vintage airstream -tugging at the heartstrings of every last hipster in the place...
The show it self was terrific -too short- but terrific. I could have watched it all night. The best part was Monkee's picked three girls to makeover and walk in the show. Sweet thing Kirsty Piper was one of those lucky ladies and she looked a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

Jonathan, Rebecca and I posing after the show.

sparkle tank, black skirt, lime slingbacks, lime headband -jcrew, bow ring -forever 21, silver clutch -thrifted, oversized watch -target, photo credits -sweet hubs

work it Kirsty!
it goes without saying that I am officially lusting after every single piece. Specifically, the tessa tie shoulder dress. O M G. One of a+o's PR girls was wearing it and looked so friggin' cute. She also wore floral garland in her hair, which warrants serious props anyway. Well played girlfriend, well played.
so, that's my recap. I had a blast, the hubs came along (which never happens) and we were still in bed by 10. My kinda night.
cheers,
mc

ice queen

I thought today's outfit seemed really whimsical and fun. Pairing navy, gray, and black makes for a very interesting combination, very winter appropriate.
flat black boots: Return Passage
double pairs (for added warmth!!) black opaque tights: Target
gray mini skirt: JCrew
navy crinkle blouse: JCrew
black grandpa cardigan: Hallelu
icy necklace: Old Navy
Yes, my boot did get suck in the tree... the price we pay for a cool picture?

K Lou busted out this sweet suede skirt, I'm never sure where she hides these things!
On K Lou:
gray shimmer tights: Target
gray suede skirt: Target
light gray riding blazer: Banana Republic
cluster pearl necklace: Belks

black heeled boots: Nordstroms
