isn't this the most ridiculous thing you've ever seen in your entire life... ever?
-not really, huh?
I'm easily impressed.
ok, on to more pressing matters:
I thought this outfit was cool for two reasons

#1. Ever since the kooky irish guy at starbucks told me I looked good in red, I've taken it to heart. Lame? Maybe, but hell it's February and isn't everyone a sucker for red in February?

#2. I could totally be a part of the Pink Ladies -for the record Frenchie was my favorite. Except maybe I would be forced to start my own girl gang -maybe the irish guy at starbucks can direct me towards other ladies in red.

Caution: Women at Work

Home improvement super centers have their finger on the pulse of America. On any given day one can find every slice of American pie DIYing their way through life, we are not the exception. Our adventures began in the parking lot and brought us through the vast wasteland that is the garden center in January. Kinda depressing.
We walked away with emery cloth, acetone, and a sense of adventure...
god bless America.

btw, I wore:
Black Sueded Pumps: Urban Outfitters
NO TIGHTS, BECAUSE THE WEATHER WAS SO NICE (sorry for yelling)
graphic wrap dress: Marshalls

gray floppy hat: American Apparel
gray floppy bag: Banana Republic

This was the point when a friendly associate asked us, very nicely, not to climb on their structures. oops.
K Lou wore:
Hard Hat: Lowes Home Improvement
Navy cardigan: J Crew
White ruffle blouse: "random store in Key West" -yes that was a direct quote
cluster necklace: Target
skinny gold belt: J Crew
skinny jeans: Forever 21

No, your eyes are not deceiving you, those are my shoes. My feet began to throb during our excursion and K Lou was sweet enough to switch with me.
Patterned Jacket: Target
Metallic Flats: Belks
Shopping Cart: NFS

black and white... and read all over

We've had a sneak peak of Spring this week and it's been glorious! Everyone's in a better mood, the birds are chirping, the bees are buzzing -all that good stuff.

On Molly:
Patterned Trench Coat: the GAP
dark skinny jeans: J Crew
black tunic top: Target
black and white spectator shoes: Isaac Mizrahi for Target

The Cuban gentleman at the restaurant next door got a good laugh at K Lou and I, posing for pictures.
Who am I kidding? -everyone looks at us like nut-cases when they see us taking pictures, which actually makes it a little funner

*funner, is that a word?
Hopefully the hubs won't read this post, I wouldn't want to embarrass him with my lack of word knowledge.

On K Lou -I thought her outfit totally captured Melanie Laurent's character in Inglorious Basterds, which I saw over the weekend (and omg, holy blood and gore).
Khaki Tunic: Converse One Star for Target
Wide Brown "Alligator" Belt: Forever 21
Gray Flannel Tights: Marshalls
Brown Boots: Target

Necklace: a miscellaneous airport purchase -hey! we're human too!

Prom Dress Swap!!

Why am I wearing this ridiculous outfit you might ask?
Because I am teaming up with Wilmington Health Access for Teen's 7th annual Prom Dress Swap.
Not only can girls of all socioeconomic statuses purchase a gently used prom dress for only $20!!!! But also, WHAT educates young ladies regarding prom night pressures. By giving helpful tips for staying safe and also avoiding uncomfortable peer pressures associated with prom night and everyday teenage angst! (Come on, you remember that!)
Please Please Please!!! Go through your closest and ask yourself,
"does this really still fit?"
or
"will I ever wear this again"
-it doesn't fit, you won't wear it again.
Do something good, it's so easy.
Please drop your dresses by Image Monster Monday-Friday, 9-5 or Saturday 11-3.
Help someone else, clean out your closest.
Everyone wins!

skirt the issue

One of our favorite customers came in Friday. She's 85 and had just successfully completed her driver's test; her new license is good until she's 101, she proudly boasted. After our discussion of the trials and tribulations of the DMV, she informed K Lou and I that our skirts are, "pretty short, but you pull them off." Whew.

On K Lou:

black grandpa cardigan: JCrew

white oxford shirt: Target

black skinny belt:

herringbone skirt: vintage

skinny pink tie: vintage

black booties: vintage

I'm sporting:

cabin fever

oh man, yesterday was crazy! busy, busy, busy, we didn't even get a chance to take pictures at the office.
Silver lining: anyone else who hasn't taken down their Christmas tree will feel better, because I haven't either.
Last year we didn't take it down until the Super Bowl -which the Huz wasn't happy about, he kept insisting we were going to burn the house down....
this year he saw a myth busters that said it was pretty much impossible to burn a house down with a Christmas tree, so my goal this year is Valentines day....
hehehe

nautical striped sweater: Forever 21
ruffled collar blouse: TJ Maxxxxxxxxxxxxx
skinny trousers: Old Navy
-side bar on that: these are regular length pants, I just have a ridiculous inseam and I appreciate the value of high waters.
oxford style shoes: Jeffrey Campbell from Hallelu

Why, yes that is an inflatable snowman in my living room. You mean to tell me everyone doesn't have one?
On K Lou (besides the snowman, who is clearly from the north pole):
White Corduroy Jacket: Aussie Island -shout out to Jaon
skiiiiiiiinny jeans: Forever21
peach oxford shirt: the Gap
gray mohair sweater: ?
cabin boots: TJ Maxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
green scarf: NYC street vendor
crystal bracelet: it's actually mine (and a necklace) K Lou gave it to me a couple Christmases ago... and has been holding it hostage ever since.

isn't that a pretty ornament?
Christmas Gift this year from AP
the Huz made french onion soup for dinner. it was heaven.

Retro Active

When the weather gets cold and it's Wednesday the jeans/ugg boots slump seems pretty appealling, next time this happens to you think -retro. I mean why not, right? Being trendy can be challenging, while embracing your inner Jackie O just seems like fun. What's fun(ny) is that K Lou and I are so clearly on the same wave length we both showed up today embracing our respective decades and since no one seems to know what to call the current decade -I refuse to catch onto the tens, we're going to work with what we've got.
Today I've got:
magenta cardigan: J Crew
black (semi-sheer -thank goodness for photo shop) turtleneck: Target
herringbone pencil skirt: Banana Republic

Over sized cocktail earrings: Banana Republic

herringbone textured tights: Marshals
black suede pumps: Urban Outfitters

Connie McDonough Style Oracle Necklace: Forever21

Is someone holding auditions for Charlie's fourth angel?
The 70's get a bad wrap for all that polyester, but there were some seriously cool things going down and I think K Lou hit the nail on the head balancing retro themes with modern fabrics and trends:
fur vest: gift from Aunt Janet
gingham work shirt (with shoulder pads still attached): genuine throwback
mustard turtleneck: Forever 21
cream wide leg cords: J Crew
camel belt: J Crew

pendant necklace: souvenir from Key West?

camel sling back heels: Island Passage

Seriously, best outfit yet. I think so... you?
