six more weeks?!

is it a little late to address the groundhog seeing the shadow? or not seeing the shadow? anyways, I'm pretty bummed about it. It hasn't really been cold, just blustery. (which is a word, by the way...)
So I tried (and ultimately failed) to bring Spring in my outfit, but when its raining and what-not, it just doesn't seem to work out.
Hey, you win some you lose some..

K Lou likes to call me before she comes into the office and feel out her outfit. When she mentioned leather pants, I pretty much flipped out with excitement and she did not fail. For the record, Home Girl owns multiple pairs of leather pants, so stay tuned -she's gonna bring it.

fill me up, buttercup

-Yesterday we had a customer come in. Everything seemed pretty normal until the song, fill me up buttercup came on.
homie freaked out.
No, I'm really serious. This dude flipped. We were opening his files, the song came on, and this grown man put both fingers in his ears and stormed out. Not before informing us that he, "hates this song and does not want it stuck in [his] head."
HE DIDN'T EVEN TAKE HIS FINGERS OUT OF HIS EARS TO OPEN THE DOOR!
-seriously, wtf?

I'm sorry, but it was hilarious. One of the funniest IM moments ever. In fact, yesterday was an all around great day. Good outfits, goofy customers, great friggin' day.

DIY: back to black

before:
black jeans, black straight leg pants, black short sleeve tee, black long sleeve tee, two pairs black legging
oh black,
how I love thee... your slimming qualities, your chicness, your ability to turn hum-drum into oh-la-la. it's all sunshine and fairy dust until....
the friggin' spin cycle and your black turns that awful greenish gray. What is that? Why does that happen? and what the heck can I do about it?!
I have the solution. Seriously. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm feeling pretty darn awesome and I saved a whole lotta $$$.
I bought two boxes of RIT black dye = $10 and I saved two pairs of pants, two shirts, and two pairs of leggings.
Worth it?
You betcha!

step 1: clean off your work space!!
Don't be gross, empty your sink, unload the dishwasher, whatever you need to do.
-Just don't be gross

step 2: empty packet(s) of dye into bowl

step 3: add boiling water to dye (2 cups -I eye balled it)

step 4: whisk to dissolve dye into water

step 5: not pictured -soak everything in warm water

step 6: mix until your hands fall off (I went 30 minutes)

-it felt like hours

-I got so bored

step 7: rinse like cray-cray

rinse as much as you can in the sink

the water is suppose to run clear

I got impatient and transferred everything to the washing machine

quick rinse, cold water

press start, air dry, enjoy your very black things

*stay tuned for tomorrow's post for the results. They're really really good

oui oui

I felt very chic and Parisian in this outfit. I know it's the stripes/trench combo, but I'm a huge fan. Simple, yet chic is my favorite. -what a cliche' right?
We had a really nice, fancy pants dinner at Jerry's for this particular date night, because...
IT WAS THE HUB'S BIRTHDAY!!!
-technically,
it was last weekend, but I could celebrate his birth for months
-he's that great!
black boots -banana republic,
tights (that I wish I had gotten a better photo of because they're so very very chic) -victoria's secret,
wrap skirt -target, striped turtleneck -Island Passage, necklace -forever 21, trench -old navy, clutch -thrifted

wine yourself warm

Since the weather has been pretty chilly lately I've felt the need to get more creative to stay warm and chic. I thought my outfit achieved that, without being overly bulky or drab.
Also, if anyone wants to really get the attention of older gentleman, and I'm talking older, wear lacy tights. Everywhere I went I was, "the bees knees in those nylons."
-yeah, that's me they're talking about.

Our day was busy, busy, busy and we ran out of time for pictures. These were done during happy hour...

-Oh, yeah did you see that? That is my Christmas tree, still. It is becoming the elephant in the room -isn't it? Looks like I'll probably make it til Valentine's day, but I'm not going to lie -it's hap pend, I'm totally embarrassed. I still have my Christmas tree -and all of my decorations up, on February 7th. Yikes.

where IS my riding crop?!

Has it become a totally cliche blogger thing to say, "I'm channeling my inner Betty Draper"?

-Probably, but at least I'm being very specific in that I wanted to channel equestrian Betty versus everyday housewife Betty.
boots -Modcloth.com, leggings -Target, crocodile handbag -Banana Republic, turtleneck -Banana Republic, tweed coat -JCrew, necklace -gift, gloves -Target

-isn't this perfect? Everything a girl needs to channel horseback Betty

This is the kind of outfit that pulls double-duty. Dare I say..... FASHION & FUNCTION?!
-my dad is so proud right now
1. it is really comfortable! really! I'm not lying, I swear. Flat boots, cozy sweater, LEGGINGS -for crying out loud
2. it is actually really warm. (I am wearing tights under the leggings). The sweater is really warm and the tweed jacket -perfect.
3. I still look fairly presentable, ie -it's not jeans and a sweatshirt! See how easy that was?
