thrilled

{dress & skinny belt: forever 21; necklace: k lou's; trench & flats: target; tights: wal mart; ring and tote: banana}

Apologies all around for my absence. You see, this whole blogger thing relays quite a bit on technology: when your computer, camera, dryer, car, and bracelet breaks -it makes blogging more difficult. (Maybe the bracelet part is a little dramatic, but you get the idea). So, you've heard my excuses. Hopefully, you're feeling forgiving.
I had a wonderful visit from some wonderful friends while the Hubs left me for a jaunt in New York City. I had the best time exploring Athens with them. Also, how much does UGA look like the Carolina quad? Right? Thrilled? You with me?
Also, I'm really hoping everyone (Brad!) appreciates this GIF. I'd like to think I'm a computer genius, but really I have no idea what I'm doing. Needlesstosay this GIF took some serious figuring out. I hope you like it

military rule

{jatk boots -modcloth.com; leggings, tunic -target; jacket, belt -forever 21; scarf -street vendor}

I imagine most of you have some access to the weather, so I am assuming that you already know that the Peach state has indeed received snow. (insert cheers here). Several very exciting things happend:

1. this darn computer got sick. sickty sick sick.
2. ice ice baby. i love snow, ice is really scary.
3. chili, Thomas Keller's brownies, several trips to Vision Video
that is all. in four days. yes, seriously. we've watched a lot of movies.
luckily now the computer has been fixed; both the Hubs and I have finally left the house; and we're having a lovely double dinner date tonight.
the other awesome thing is that I bought newstand magazines (vogue!) and I totally stole the outfit from page 132. My apologies to Anna Wintour. Buying magazines is such a treat, but I obviously take their advice a little too seriously.

Please no one report me to the devil!
cheers,
mc

jewel thief

{jeans -jcrew; sweater -target; flats -banana republic; necklace -thrifted; jacket -mango; sunnies -rayban}
stop what you're doing right now and to to Target. I'm being really serious people. Check out this sweater -Target, nine bones. See how this is serious(ly awesome)?

Even if you don't immediately jump into your nearest form of transportation I do hope you'll gloat along with me, because honestly I feel fancy and cool in this sweater.
1. jewel tones look awesome on everybody. infants, old people, ugly folks.
2. whatever crazy blend of poly/rayon/bad-for-the-environment material is so friggin' soft -I'm calling it poor girl cashmere. (and no one can stop me).
3. I also kinda feel like one of those nineteen fifties sweater girls. You know, the ones with the pointy bras and good ponytails.
that's all I've got for now.
cheers,
mc

this cat is back

{jeans, skinny belt -forever 21; tote bag -banana republic; flats -old navy; leopard shirt, watch -target; middle finger ring -gifted from grandma; sunnies -wayfarer}

hey, o.
I've been a bad, bad blogger. I'm sorry, to all eight of you, but on the bright side -I'm back. As I hope all of you already know, it is the year two thousand eleven and this girl is pumped. Last year I had two pretty excellent resolutions and I somehow accomplished both. (Yay, me!) Since it seems, I'm on a roll, lets try again this year. For the record books in 2011 I would like to:
1. be a better blogger. with more frequent (or at least more interesting) posts
2. freaking relax. take a chill pill. yoga. meditation. whatevs.
3. learn to play the accordion. Joan may or may not be a major influence in this decision.
4. kick booty at my job -I really like it and kicking booty. Seems obvious, really.
5. positivity. the secret. good karma. just goodness, ok?

Back to the outfit, do you like it? I do, a lot. I felt like a really hip sixties housewife when I left the house. Since my new job requires a sadly unfashionable uniform, I've been using my days off to rock some serious style. I've updated my inspiration board for 2011 and I've got some good stuff lined up.
until next time.
cheers,
mc

weekending

{the Hubs and the home of the chestnut chicken sandwich -perhaps the best sandwich of all time}

{downtown wilmers, all decked out for the holidays}

{jeans -jcrew matchstick; striped tee -forever 21; red beret -american apparel; silver skinny belt -plato's closet via old navy; black cardigan -kohl's; silver ballet flats -target; purse -michael kors via tj maxx}

the Hubs and I really enjoyed our short visit back to Wilmers. It was really nice to spend some QT with our family, friends, and frankly each other! Our weekends have been chalk full of work and paper grading/writing it was really a pleasure to have weekend together. We headed downtown one dreary afternoon for a chestnut chicken sandwich and a shot of nostalgia. They say you can't go home again (which was the prompt for my UNC application essay), but I disagree T-Dub. We came, we went, we had the best old time. Wilmywood will always be our home away from home.

world cup

{leggings -forever 21; watch, striped tee, and trench -target; red flats -old navy; world cup scarf -gifted}

gooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal!!!

I'd like to think I look euro-chic today. Something about leggings and stripes always conjures up visions of Audrey, circa Roman Holiday. It's finally cool enough for scarves and I'm thrilled to bust out my Spain vs. Netherlands scarf for the first time. My brother was in the Netherlands during the World Cup and all I got was this lousy scarf -I kid, I really think this thing is awesome.

The Hubs said these pictures look like I'm in a barren eastern bloc country. Joke's on him, because we took them on his campus...

I'm off now roasted chicken for dinner (my fav!) and maybe a pineapple upsidedown cake and definitely a mani. Now what color? Decisions, decisions.

scholastic achievement

{skirt, sweater, ring -jcrew; polish -sally hansen plum luck; bag -banana republic; sunnies -rayban}

How about this fine Athens scenery? It's pretty sweet, huh?
The Hubs and I went out earlier this week celebrating the return of his first paper (an A, he got an A!) I'm so proud. We had such a nice night and I'm just so blown away by my amazing guy. What a friggin' smarty pants.
stay smart ya'll,

training day

please cue Rocky theme music now...

{black scarf -nyc street vendor; yoga pants -target; grey deep vee tee -american apparel; sweatshirt -forever 21; jean jacket -rodarthe for target; tote bag -ll bean; sneakers -new balance}

Hey, hey! This girl worked her little tail off this weekend, ya'll! I'm telling you, Saturday I worked 9-5 training at the new j.o.b -then high tailed it over to the restaurant and worked 5:30 till 11!

I'm exhausted just thinking about it. Luckily, I wore extra comfy clothes while training. It was absolutely freezing inside -hence my bundledness. I love the look of a hoodie underneath a jean jacket -especially this specific hoodie, which says let them eat cake on the hem. Isn't that just the cutest?

Also please note the over sized tote bag filled with a change of clothes for my next shift. I love this thing, I call it my married lady bag since almost every married lady I know owns some variation of it. Mine's LL Bean and I'm looking forward to it getting really beat up, that's how you know I'm doing some serious livin'...

Tomorrow I'm substitute teaching pre-school, I'm planning on taking before and after pictures to document the destruction those little boogers pull. We'll see I suppose.

Cheers for now.

xoxo's

love story

{boots -Return Passage; skirt -gap; trench -target; sweater -jcrew; necklace -forever 21; beret -american apparel}

There were so many possible post names for this outfit, they ranged from:

1. the outfit I wore getting my criminal background check
2. my audition outfit for rugby bar's newest bartender
3. I don't know what the third one was, but lists always sound better in threes.

I settled on Love Story because it's my favorite movie ever and I think Ali McGraw is about as pretty as they come. Also, doesn't everyone want to dress more like an Ivy Leaguer from 1970? Seems pretty obvious to me...
Anyway, I do really love this outfit. By the end of the day I was little too hot, but there was no sweltering, so overall a win.

jane-o-lantern

{shorts -old navy: gingham top -KLou's; orange cardigan -banana republic; belt -forever 21; flats -target; sunnies -forever 21; bag -banana}

I think the only acceptable month to wear a combination of orange/black is October. Agree or not, I plan on doing it this as much as possible until the 31st. I have some funny stories to tell soon, but right now I'm off to my very glamorous job.
I should have put glamorous in quotations...
