betty homemaker

{dress: macy's; apron: shower gift from Karen; purple croc ballet flats: banana republic; purple flower stud earrings: forever 21; lobster roll recipe: TK's Ad Hoc at Home; Spice Cake recipe: Cooks Illustrated}

In an attempt to avenge my Sunchoke fiasco, I oh-so-cleverly convinced the Hubs to (finally) make me my (May 4th!!) birthday dinner. He pulled out Ad Hoc: At Home and whipped up the best darn lobster rolls ever (which is how I roll). I got all gussied up and made Grandpa Gerry's favorite spice cake with cream cheese frosting -delish.

Overall, a great night and a nice break from the j.o.b hunt.
cheers,
mc

not so red hot....

{dress: forever 21, espadrilles -tommy via tj maxx, bag: banana republic, sunglasses: RayBan, pearl earrings and bracelet: gift from mil}

I decided to kick my integrity aside and worked this short, silky red number. It did not help -what-so-ever, wah wah. I stopped by one place and stood there for five whole minutes; made eye contact with at least six employees; and not one single person acknowledged my presence. It was humiliating and insulting and a real ego kick. Ouch, folks ouch.

To add insult to injury I made dinner, took one bite -then threw it in the trash can. The score goes: Sunchokes: 1, Molly: 0.
The hubs saved the day and whisked me off for a night out.
What a guy.
better luck next time,
mc

how to dress for sucess

I clearly need this book if I am ever going to get a new job.
The description is as follows:
Would you like to look younger, prettier, slimmer? -yes!
Would you like to attract a new man, hold on to the current one? -yes!
Would you like to get a better job, earn more money? -yes! {a job in general would be great}
Would you like your husband to move up the ladder of sucess, attract more friends? -yes!
This book offers fashion advice from the 1960's.

-and I need it.
cheers,
mc

pounding the pavement

{dress -the gap, yellow flats -target, bucket bag -banana republic, bobble necklace -target, aviators -ray ban, pope bracelet -forever 21}
Yesterday was official day one of the job search. It was terrifying. There is absolutely no other way to describe it. I don't think I've ever felt more inadequate in my life -and I'm a pretty awkward person.
The only silver lining was the few compliments I received on my outfit -at least I'm doing something right...
Any tips for a job seekers Would you hire me?
cheers,
mc

hey ya'll

{western shirt -gifted from Jaon, feather necklace -gifted from Sweet Liza, sunnies -forever 21, jorts -jcrew, camel flats -target, belt -vintage, watch -target, turquoise ring -forever 21}

Since the move I've been feeling wildly sentimental towards all my far away friends. To combat my home-sickness I've been combining bits of them into my wardrobe. I've been begging sweet Jaon for this vintage wrangler western shirt since spotting it in his closet -just before the move, he caved. It pairs perfectly with the feather charm from Liza (who I owe the careful packing of our kitchen to).
The point is -just because my friends are far, doesn't mean I'm not keeping them close.

celebrate good times, come on...

After a fun filled weekend with my family (Congrats again, Mikey and Sarah!) I'm feeling totally re-charged. I have so much to be thankful for -such a great family and so many great friends. Some people celebrate with champagne -I prefer the champagne of beers, all 40 oz.
;).
I'm working on uploading pictures of the beautiful wedding we attended this weekend -as well as a new outfit post!
I'm also getting a job this week -or a least trying..

lollypop bling

Hello, hello.

We've moved -hence my absence. But, I resolve to come back better than ever -as soon as the new crib gets internet access. Until then I'm slummin' it at Jittery Joes with this sick piece of pop culture candy:

Mariah Carey's newest fragrance is called Lollypop bling. What is the world coming to?
