sunflower fields forever

So, lately I've been hearing a lot of smack talk regarding Sunflowers. I'm just now finding out that some people think they are tacky?! (WHAT?!) I find this genuinely shocking; I really actually love them -they're in the top three favorite flowers of mine. I think Sunflowers are pretty friggin' amazing so you can only imagine my excitement when leaving Athens the hubs and I came across a friggin field of sunflowers!!! I pretty much had a heart attack on the spot. Needless to say -I was elated.
We stopped to frolic in the field, I even convinced the Hubs to do some posing. (I think the long car ride may have contributed to his willingness to strut his stuff). I think he looks like a total babe. {pants -jcrew bowry; straw hat -jcrew, sunnies -from a gift bag from Hallelu}

We spent the day in Athens looking at what felt like a hundred places to live. We were in and out of the car all day and it was a scortcher. I knew the Georgia heat would be raging so I kept it cool with a sweet sundress. Since it was a holiday weekend, I wanted to stay festive so I opted for a patriotic print and floppy sun hat. What could be more American than that?

If the field is a sign of things to come for our new Georgia life, I think we're off to a great start!
Cheers,

exploration station

One point Athens!
Day two of our Athens exploration adventure took us to the tree that owns itself. The tree's original owner left the tree to the tree in his will.
Neat, right?!

Travel Tip: everything you pack should work together. Mix and Match! It makes everything so much easier and it makes all your vacation photos look more cohesive. (ok, maybe that last part isn't that important, but I like it!)

the straw clutch is my warm weather favorite. Words cannot describe my love.

Two points Athens! Gawd, littering is such a pet peeve -specifically, cigarette buds out the window while folks drive. That makes for some serious road rage...

spring is in full swing in Athens. It was actually Easter weekend and Friday evening while we were eating at a great vegetarian restaurant we watched a full on reenactment of the Crucifixion at the church across the street from the restaurant.
Honestly, it was kinda awkward to be sipping on beers while watching all that go down...

New News: So, the Hubs and I took an impromptu road trip this past weekend to visit Athens, Georgia aka: our new home!!!
Yes, seriously. We're doing it; we're excited and nervous and crazy.
Our trip began with a stop in Charlotte to see one of our bestest friends, also the King of the email, voicemail, and note leaving

We arrived in Athens and were immediately blown away. As a UNC girl (go heels!) I'm skeptical of all other colleges ever.
Surprisingly UGA is awesome. The campus was beautiful, everyone was friendly, and we ate a lot of really delicious food (which is obviously very important to us)

UGA's colors are black and red -do you think it's lame and corny to wear school colors? -or do you think it's awesome and rad?
I picked up one a local bridal magazine during our visit and one of the brides pictured had a temporary (I'm assuming and hoping) bulldog tattoo ON HER FACE.
that's crossing the line...
